THE TATTOOED LADY, Max Vernon & Erin Courtney, Directed by Ellie Heyman

Last week, Lily was in a reading of the book of Max Vernon & Erin Courtney’s new musical, The Tattooed Lady…at Erin’s place in Brooklyn. Lily read for Olive Oatman, a Mormon, and the “first original tattooed lady,” who in the 1800’s was tattooed by the Native Americans that slaughtered her traveling family, and proceeded to raise Olive. However, since it was all Olive ever knew, she didn’t believe it a brandishing, and wished to someday meet her Native American family in the afterlife, as the tattoo was intended for. Lily was super grateful to hear Max’s incredible songs and help out with such a unique story!
